Full Version: Green Tint To Lcd?

I have an old Benq 567 with the A/G removed. The LCD itself has a very strong green tint.

Even with the power turned off, it doesn't project a white screen - rather a washed out green screen.

It's not the light source, but rather the LCD itself.

Reminds me a lot of the color of some plate glass - and some condenser lenses... biggrin.gif

Some possibilites, but i am open to hearing more:

1. The A/G removal upset the color balance of the LCD.

2. The green tint is intentional, either in the glass itself or the color filters. The reason being perhaps to compensate for a fluorescent backlight that was lacking in green???.... blink.gif

3. The LCD got zapped by UV lumies....(nod to elken smile.gif )

Anyone else experienced/seen anything similar???

Does your LCD have a color adjust?
If it does you might just be in a user defined color set, and then you select a preset.

Hope this helps and it is just that simple!!! wink.gif

Thanks. Haven't checked that yet...

But that shouldn't affect it when the power is off...should it?

My understanding is that's when it sends as much light through as it possibly can - regardless of any settings.

This may be a stupid question. . . but are you possibly using Lexan as a heat shield and forgot to remove the green protective coating?

It seems strange that you would be getting a green lit screen even when the monitor is off. . .

No lexan.

Halogen lamp, fresnel, LCD, fresnel, LL triplet.

Did you cook your LCD?

Halogens get Very Hot!!!

Nope, not yet... biggrin.gif

Haven't had it running long enough to get hot.

I decided the answer is probably #2: Differences in color temps and CRI between the original CFL backlight and my halogen.

The lack of A/G probably makes it even more evident. Not a big deal I've concluded. Can probably be finetuned through calibration.
