Full Version: Help! My Lcd Stopped Working!

My Dell E151FPb worked for a few weeks while I used it as my actual computer montior (before i got around to start building). I stripped everything, and just today placed the panel and electronics in my box. connected all the power cords/ffc cables etc., and nothing happens. I plug it in, turn the projector on, and hit the 'on' button from the monitor control buttons and the LED doesn't even light up to acknowledge that the lcd is on.

If anyone has any ideas as to what it could possibliy be that is causing this problem, please do tell- i'm getting desperate. I just don't seem to be getting any power into the monitor and the electronics (not due to the pj wiring though, because the lcd also didn't do anything when I plugged it into the wall as is).

Sounds like a wiring issue, make sure to triple check your wiring.

Does you power cord to the lcd have a light on the power converter brick? Mine has a little green light that signals there is power there. If there is one and it is not on, you gotta work backwards from that power cord through your wiring, something is not right. If you have no little light, well, you really still need to do the same thing. But, from experience, by little power light was on, but lcd was dead, nothing, nada, not a flicker of anything. If any of the ffcs were flexed wrong or anything, it could kill the whole lcd. Hope you find a loose wire! Good luck.

No light on the powersupply (just a power cord). Only light is the one on the strip of buttons to make adjustments, and that one does not turn on.

It isn't an issue with the wiring of my projector though, because the same thing happened when I tried to just plug the LCD cord directly into the wall outlet. I think I may have messed something up in my placement of the panel, as the edge connector ffcs could have been damaged. Currently, my LCD just slides into a slit cut into the sled a bit bigger than the panel itself, which forces me to bend the edge connectors a bit so that they fit into this slit. Is this a terrible idea? How should i have mounted the LCD otherwise? Did i mount it the right way, and my problem is somewhere else?

Your mounting sounds just fine, there's nothing wrong with flexing the FFCs a little - thus the name - Flat Flexibe Cables. tongue.gif I really couldn't say what the problem is, I'd have to look at the LCD myself...
