Hey guys I have a questions for you ...
This is my second build this time I am going pro. I am using a phillips LCD tv and I have everything stripped. I removed the AG on the front side with the rag soak. On the back of the panel I have a perfect mirror coating. I think it is going to affect my brightness. it looks like I can remove it like the Ag, but I wanted to make sure it isn't some sort of polarbear. any ideas guys?
Thanks
Brad
this is someone else's posting with the same LCD as me. I asked him as well but I am looking for a fast response.

Hey darbronnoco,
I am using a phillip lcd tv in my PJ and I had the same layer. I beleive it is called a dichronic something or another. Anyhow.... it is not need for our preojectors. I completely removed mine and saw a difference. Maybe about 10% brighter. Be careful though. I'm pretty sure there is still a polar on the back and you dont want to touch that. Also, it came off much harder than the AG and I ended up having to spend quite a lot of time with alchohol getting the little bits of glue up. Overall worth it if you are confident and patient. AGAIN... dont take my word for it. It worked for me but do your own research and take your time..... the last thing we want is damaging our expensive lcd tvs....

Thanks for your input. did you use the rag soak on that too? I think I am going to give it a try. It already seems like it wants to peal up. I picked at the corner a bit. I think it will make a huge difference. Thanks again

Well I have been soaking it for a little while, but it looks like is is going to be very messy to remove. I am pretty nervious. yeesh I guess I'll see if it responds better after soaking over night. I wonder if the stripper method would work better on here or not?

there will definitely be a polarizer somewhere under that.. but don't worry.. If you damage it you can replace it realitively inexpensively.

Yeah.. mine was really sticky. I got lucky and didnt remove the polar but the mirror coating came off in about 30 strips..... not nice...... goodluck and be patient

Hey I used a razor and peeled up a corner. Everything came up nice and a little rubbing alcohol did the trick. Just figured I would post up in case anyone else came across this. Thanks guys.
