Okay- I was surfing one day and came accross this website. At first, I was going to write it off as a hoax, but the more I read the more it intrigued me. I have a serious question though, and that is the claim that "The Lumenlab Projector costs much less than a commercial projector. The bulb for a commercial projector costs between $250 - $600 and has a life span of 1,000 - 2,000 hours. The bulb for a Lumenlab Projector costs $16 and lasts for 20,000 hours. The Lumenlab Simple 15" Projector has a higher resolution (XGA) than the InFocus X1 or Epson Powerlite (SVGA)."
This seems pretty incredible. Why such a discrepency? Is the lumenlab projector using a different type of bulb? Whats the deal? I would like to work on a project like this but I want to know a little more about it before I buy a $20 guide.

The old lamp we used was $16, the new EYE BT28 is $35 and last for 20,000 hours. There is one distinct advantage to our project; since we are using a larger LCD panel we can use a larger lamp. The lamps we use (metal halide) are the same technology and have similar specs to a commercial unit but they are bigger and therefore cost much less. Of course the lamps for commercial projectors are also grossy inflated but hey, you get the projector for cheap (at least the entry level jobs). This is a similar situation to printer ink; get the printer cheap and get raped on the ink. The $1k entry level projectors also have lower resolution and to be honest, are complete crap. Any more questions?
