True That!
Even if you dont have a card it makes a nice interface. The MediaMVP interface is a nice touch too. I happily say good things about this software. If you are in the market for PVR software, you really should check this one out.

Here, here! I run it solely for the MediaMVP interface capabilities, but it was a breeze to setup. A LOT easier than MythTV (and I know unix). Yeah, Micro$oft OSes use way too many system resources, but since it is a dedicated DVR machine for me, I have plenty of horsepower.

How do you integrate satellite into it? I'm reading but not seeing the instructions on it. It sounds like there's some sort of PC to DirecTV receiver device involved? Anyone using this enough to know?

I used an Hauppauge pvr150 w/an IR Blaster. It was connected via s-video to my Direct-TV STB and the IR blaster sent the command to the STB to change the channel.

So you can basically use any capture card you want (i'm sure there are limitations so stay mainstream), hook up the IR blaster (to the pc or the stb?), and you've got directv on the gbpvr.

What if I just want it to funnel the tv through and not change the channels? Basically just use the directv remote for all that and leave the gbpvr on the equivalent of ch 3 for a vcr?

I suppose since this is just going to all be hooked up to the LL pj I could run component from the DVD player, s-video from the satellite, and vga from the gbpvr box for media center content. Then just use the pj remote to choose the source. Sound kosher?

You can use any capture card that gbpvr supports.

The PVR150 comes with an IR blaster. It connects to pvr150 and sits in front the IR receiver on the STB. There are other blasters but I am unfamiliar with them. So basically yes.

That will work but GBPVR will not be able to change the channel on the STB and you won't be able to use the GBPVR tv guide. So if you wanted to record something you would have to make sure the channel was already set.

Not sure. Sounds like it may work.
