Im after a heat shield for my 15" projector as at the moment I have to run the fans quite fast to keep the LCD cool.

I have been looking here...

http://www.gcip.co.uk/EP/lexan_polycarbonate_sheet.htm

But what would be most suitable for a 400w bulb?

Almost have my projector done, just need to make it quiet, hoping that this is the solution to making it very quiet

I bought a sheet of lexan Marguard... here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=140023212055

It's 6mm and the optical qualities are fantastic !

You could always use tempered glass from an old scanner or phone your local glass merchant....

Hmm

Does that stop heat, can see it stops UV, cant see anything on this datashet stating that it blocks any heat huh.gif

Most lexan/glass transmits IR radiation (heat), It's the reason we have the airflow between the heatshield/Rear Fres. and the LCD.

It's Lexan XL10 that most of the US builders use, but I can't find any in the Uk for love nor money... And to be honest I've not seen/read the datasheet for XL10 for comparison to the Marguard.

Hmm, have you tested the lexan which you have? or is your projector still underconstruction, as you havent updated your plog for awhile.

I've tested it but not in anger...... Temps are around 4 degrees above ambient at LCD surface after about 1 hour.

PJ is almost finished, just need to mount the FS mirror properly.

Hmm, might judt buy some of that then smile.gif
