Well I've been thinking about a projector for a while. I've been offsetted many times for many reasons. Now I am ready to go for it, but I want to know how much heat this thing will produce with a 400watt bulb/ballast.

This wil be replacing a 19in tube tv and 21in computer monitor in my room, so basically my question is will removing these two items balance out the heat issue. PS pretty much the tv is on 24/7 and the monitor is always on but if i'm not on it its in power saving mode or whatever it is.

Oh and one more thing, how much power do you think these 2 items take up compared to the projector. Thanks guys biggrin.gif

I don't want to scare you away.. cause I love my PJ.. but I also hate unrealistic expectations. I have my PJ in my bedroom (about 12x13) and with the door closed it can get quite warm if the PJ is on more than 1.5 hours or so.... I would say it maxes out at 85 or so.... now with the door open and my fan on its fine.. but a 400 W bulb definitely puts out some heat and without ventilation it can add up. That is one of the reasons for the recent spark in interested over the smaller arc, lower wattage lamps because of the power and temp reduction.

anyhow.. before I ramble... don't let the temp scare you away from this great project. Just keep in mind that the light is hot and so proper ventilation should be thought out. A simple fan and leaving the door open a crack is enough for me.

Brian
