I'm a bit of a noob to this whole projector scene, so bare with me. I have read a ton of pages, and I think I'm ready. Anyway, I decided not to half ass it on parts, so I won't have to upgrade anytime soon.

I plan on throwing the image a minimum of 12 feet, to make a 80"-100" screen

Parts List:
View Sonic VG 500 15" LCD(soon to be a 17" WS, 720p baby!)
LL 400W Electronic Ballast & LL65k T15 bulb
220/610mm Fresnel's
24"(609mm) Beseler Lens(got crazy lucky on ebay)
Wodden Cabinet (too lazy to make one for now)
Assorted 12-10ga wire

For now that's about all I have ordered.

Needed stuff:
Reflector(forgot to order from LL)
Mirror
XL10
120mm 12v fans
Some sort of heatsink
and about an hour of wandering around Home Depot, to find random stuff to use.

That's the cabinet that will be used for the enclosure. Measures 15"Wx11"Dx46"H(hope everything fits)

Any comments or pointers welcome.

24" !! thats great, I looked around a while to find a 22" and got one, but came out to be a disappointment - the lens is really foggy and has quite a bit of lens fungus ... I'll have to get it polished ...

did the 24" come of a projector (if so which one?) or did you get the lens on its own

It came on it's own(atleast in the auction). I didn't receive it yet, but it looked ok in the pics.

AG soaking..

Here it is after peeling the the AG. Anyone have any idea what that residue is, and how to remove it? Will that be visible when projecting?

I also Just received the lens, and it turns out that it has some chips around the edge. It seems to be out of view, what do you guys think? Usable? Damn fleabay, buncha crooks.

Almost done.

What are you using to hold the Lexan and Fresnels?

What are you using to hold the Lexan and Fresnels?

The lexan will just hang where it is(secured with nuts on the threaded rod). The fresnels(unsplit) will lay in the metal tray over it. There will be another metal tray over the fresnels, which holds the lcd panel.

Got the second tray done. LCD will sit in the top tray. The fresnels will be in the bottom one. While the lexan is underneath both. The threaded rods are screwed into a piece of mdf, which will seperate the Bulb, from the ballast and electrical underneath.

Only a test fit, everything is loose.

I got my ballast and bulb the other day. All I can say is, damn the thing is bright. I still got a headache laugh.gif
Anyway, here is the bulb mount. Keeping the fully adjustable spirit.
