I've spent a lot of time reading the last few days, 16 pages of http://www.lumenlab.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=12466
and 34 pages of http://www.lumenlab.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=9126

I wish there was a way to merge all of that to what would work best for a 17" projector using a 3dlabs 220 FL and a 330 focal length one from there and a LL standard triplet. I'm moderately concerned with brightness because I'm using 2 mirrors and its in a room with lots of windows(all with treatments) I do plan on using blackflame light once I get my PJ completed. Basically I've got everythingin my mind except for the lightbox, any input woudl be greatly appreciated, 1000 watt bulbs are out of the question for this setup. I would consider something inbetween though, anyhow thanks in advance

If you want more brightness you will be better off going with the Pro lens and fresnels. It will allow more of the lamps arc through and also it will be able to "see" all of the Lcd. With the standard triplet and fresnels you will lose brightness and have dim/blurry corners with a 17" Lcd.

If your budget eliminated the use of a pro triplet you should look into precondensers.. if you think you did a lot of reading before though you're in for a surprise. the precon thread is over 150 pages I think laugh.gif the precons we use are plano-convex lenses. they're placed right in front of the bulb and help direct a wider field of light towards the field fresnel. the brightest setups use a precon, good reflector, and high wattage bulb. on a budget you should look into a 400w T15 bulb, pro reflector, precon.

Its really not a matter of budget so much as its a matter of room, I have a 9-10ft throw(should read 8-9ft, I'm mounting it in a coffee table. The design I was going to use is now out of the question, because unless I can find a triplet and frenselt that are around 400-450 FL I have to come up with something else sad.gif Any suggestions?

standard triplet, split fresnels, 17" LCD 330mm field fressy gives ~155" image from 10ft. thats very large. with 650mm fressy and 500m pro triplet you'd have a respectable 90" image.

I miss quoted myself smile.gif its about an 8ft throw sorry, and I thought the pro triplet was 600 FL?

no the triplet is 500mm. the 'pro' collimting fresnel is listed as 650mm but in reality is more like 600mm.

ok I wouldn't want a pro triplet with 8ft throw either. kind of kills the whole point of a projector smile.gif
