How would be the easiest way to frame the LCD (I'm terrified I'm going to break it its so small) and the fresnals.

I see the people using wood, but what is the procedure to making these? blink.gif

Thanks so much!!!! cool.gif

either route out a slot/groove in a piece of wood or sandwich two piece of wood together with a gap in the middle to form a slot. you want a mm or two breathing room for the fresnels since they will expand when hot. Also they should be secured on all 4 corners if possible to help prevent bowing. you will want to line the slots for the LCD with rubber or foam or something to absorb shock.

does anyone know a PLOG that goes into this more in depth?

I'm extremely interested in this also. Taking care of this is the last step for me before buying the wood for the box. My LCD has a board coming off the bottom and side, and I'm just trying to see how to mount the screen and those boards.

check out this post from TESCORPS plog to see how he mounted an LCD with side PCB

from this image in his plog you can sneak a peek at how he mounts the fresnels in the frame to the right. he used a circular saw to cut a groove in the wood thats large enough for the fresnel to breathe and expand.
