How many lumens are needed to have a good clear picture with a 15" lcd, standard LL fresnals/triplet.

The bulb has to have how many lumens for a good picture, I know that the transmissiveness of the LCD and all that.

What is the minimum needed? blink.gif

Depends on the light conditions in your theater room.

But I would say for most people you would need at least 30,000 lumens on the lamp for a decently bright picture. Some will say less but you won't be happy with dark scenes with less lumens.

Given a standard build and reasonable reflector, I'd say that jon is right on the money.

The Ushio PS T15 lamp is 40,000 initial lumens, and it's a nice step up from the S400DD. The S400DD was 32,000 initial lumens, and is enough, with a half-decent reflector, given reasonably controlled lighting. (My 15" standard projector with S400DD lamp and Ikea reflector is in a basement with no windows, for example. The projection quality is excellent. The current owner does NOT recommend the playing of Doom3 on it, however, not because it doesn't handle dark scenes, but because it managed to completely freak him out.)
