Ok I have done a lot of research and I have started making a ps1 lcd/ 500w halogen lamp pj. I have a good plan that should work. I am testing the ps1 lcd after it has been stripped. I completed the composite mod, and plugged in a universal ac adapter set at 7.5 volts. and.....nothing. There is no picture or anything. So here is my question.... did I miss something, or where should I begin troubleshooting. I did the rag soak mod for the AG screen, so how likely is it that I removed the polorized screen? (It came off really easily really do not think that I did this). Also I may have had my polorized universal adapter set incorectly could this have messed it up? any help would be greatly appreciated. I will start a plog once I get the stripped lcd screen to work. thanks.
edit: When I plug it into the power there is no change on the lcd panel, it is still see through and the pixels do not chang colors.

thanks for the reply.... but I read in another post that if you remove the polorizing lens that you the pixles will turn black if the LCD screen is reciving info correctly. When I try to power it up and have an input connected there is no change in the pixles. also I can see that there is another "layer" before the glass part on both sides of the LCD panal. I belive that this is the polor lens, unless there is another layer under the polor lens I have the polor lens still on. Any thoughts?

hello, about the ac adapter, you must buy a the play station one, beacuse the screen needs at least 2 amps. to be turned on. and if you cant, try to get a 2 amps universal adapter (i have never seen one) good luck with your project

i had the same problem with mine, it was all a side-effect of the power supply. you cant use just any universal 7.5, i had to buy the mini ps1 power supply and it worked properly
hope that helps
edit......looks like i was beat to the punch

thank you very much. I hope that I just didn't ruin my screen because I did the fuse mod that was described somewhere. but thanks again.

It has been a while, but if I remember right, the PSone screen won't show diddly unless you have something plugged into the video input. If it doesn't detect a video signal, it stays dark. Are you inputting a video signal?

Besides making sure you are using the right power supply, you may want to check one more thing. The FFC connection attached to to the screen has to be fold back against the screen. For some reason, when the cable is laid flat the screen looses signal and will not work. I've included a pic to illustate. The photo shows a before and after with the backlight shield cut out and removed.

yeah I had a vid signal going into it... but I did not have the cable folded over so When I get my adapter (on it way from CA) I will make sure that I do that.
Thanks again.

I had the same problem using a universal ac adapter at 7.5v, but it's fine at 6v
The screen sans backlight should run just fine on the 500mA your adapter is likely to provide.
