I am about to add the pro reflector to my setup and I was wondering how far away from the T15 bulb it is recommended to mount it? I did a little bit of testing and it seems like the closer to the bulb the better. What did others find?

It should be almost touching it. In fact mine is about a sheet of papers thickness away from the bulb.

how do you tell height wise where to place the reflector?

Mount the reflector very close the the lamp. I have a couple of mm space, but it could be closer, It was designed to be a tight fit.

Center the reflector on the lamp arc chamber, the closer to centr you get it, the better your light source will be.

what if its touching the bulb? i don't think mine is but its very very close. I used the 80mm fan grill method and the grill is less them a mm away from the bulb (maybe even touching on the sides, its hard to see in light box).

Sling_Blade, sorry to post questions in your thread but these answer may help you and me both cool.gif

That's fine. Mine had the best results with it touching/almost touching the bulb.

I guess my biggest question is about heat. I know the reflector will be ok, but what about the fan grill? its just a cheap $1 compUSA 80mm grill. not sure what it is made of, but i'm guessing tin or aluminum. Will it melt of bend due to the heat?

edit: find this site that list melting points - http://www.fsref.com/Fatal/FE110701.php
aluminum: 660c
tin: 232c
