Hello,
I would like to build several of these, just got the plans and a friend is helping me build a nice looking box. The first PJ I want to build is going to be just a dvd to PJ. Any suggestions on a
moderately priced LCD and DVD player combination that I don't have to run through a computer?
Do you have to run it thru a NextVision N6 or is there anyway to bypass this product as well? I'm frugal but not cheap. Thanks Teffy

DVD player with VGA out discussed here:

Wouldn't need an N6 with this DVD player.

Thanks,
I have been looking for three days now, I do this post and then I found it like 60 seconds later on the post! Go figure.
Has anyone else had any luck with this or is it just better to bite the bullet and go with the Viewsonic Nextstep N5/N6?
Then you have all the compatability you want.

I would buy the N6 - then you get the component inputs and the ability to watch broadcast tv etc. Some have complained about the N6 Remote however. Check the Reviews section for more info.

Get a learning remote and get rid of the crappy one.

I still have the old remote for the N6 and it's not THAT bad. Yes it can be a pain at times but it's not completely unusuable like people would lead you to believe. I might get a different remote for it at some point but it's definitely low on my list of things to do. And I believe the N6 is a worthwhile upgrade.

I'm in the same boat as Teffy. I have simple needs, no bradcast TV just dvd to projector to show movies on the garage wall outside for a batch of kids... what is the minimum I can get by with? we borrowed a Infocus lcd projector with 2000 lumens and it was great, though I'd never get a less powerful unit. thanks, Tom

The simplest solution is the DVD player with VGA output. It's said they don't look as good as the N6 but the quality might be good enough. Ask kjudki he tried one.

With the latest firmware the Yamakawa DVD365 DivX can scale the picture whatever resolution & refresh rate, see
dvd365Only problem is that you can't just enter the resolution you want use, you have to give all the timing parameters, and they are now saved during power-offs.

Isn't that euro's? If so, that's just too expensive for a player! I would rather have the flexibility of an N6 for less money.
