Hello,
I'm new here to these forums this is actually my first post,
anyway I too made a screen using 1" SCH 40 PVC pipe it is 96" X 60", I used 4 90 degree elbows for the corners and 2 1" tees for the center post it's basically a rectangle divided in the middle for strength, total cost $12.00. Than I purchased some rubberized sreen material off of Ebay for $39.00 and I streched this over the frame and fastend it in the back using "sheet suspenders" You know to hold your bed sheets in place under the mattress.. cost $14.95. It works well no sags or wrinkles and best of all its adjustable and can be broken down in seconds.

Anyone know what those Sheet suspenders are called?

also

if i wanted to mount this in my backyard, what is the easiest way to do this?

thanks

i need some help making up my mind here

I am going to build a temporary outdoor screen for my backyard everonce in a while
im going for 10' diagnal

So far im going to make it out of .5" inch PVC and those "sheet suspenders" but my question is this

Should i make a widescreen or fullscreen?

I would mostly watch widescreen movies on it but i dont want to rule out my PS2 and dreamcast..

so i am thinking about making it fullscreen (unsure of the dimensions though) but wouldnt it act like a sail and just blow over with the slighest wind?

is 110 x 80" fullscreen?

please help a man out, im going to make it tomorrow

thanks

I would use 3/4" sch 40 at least. 1/2" will have WAY too much bow in it.
And it depends on how you anchor it for the flying screen part.

dont know if anyone is following this thread but i decided to go for the .5" PVC becuase 1) im low on money and .5 is cheaper 2) i dont think im going to use this that often

Well, I went to OSH and got all the supplies, 6 10' PVC pipes, 2 corners, 2 intersections, 8 T's, 6 end caps i belive

went home, marked the cut lines, sawed the cuts and assembled

took LESS than an hour from getting the parts to pining up the screen, fantastic little guide

I watched a movie on it lastnight, aside from the cold temp. outside, it worked like a charm, now all i need is a better fabric!

i will post pics
