Hi,
I would ask if a 15" widescreen TFT display is working with the S15 lens kit?
My PJ should be all set for the HD format, which is getting more and more popular in Germany.
The problem is, that the regular 15" display supports only a resolution of 1024x768 pixels. The widescreen display should be able to handle a resolution of 1280x768 pixels.
I woulnd't use a 17" display instead the 15" one, because the PJ should be as small as possible.
Thanks a lot for you answers.
Best,
Uwe
PS: Sorry for my bad english. :-) I hope you are able to understand me.

Well the corners will be dim and probably slightly unfocused because a widescreen 15" is about as wide as a 4:3 17". The Pro Kit would be much better.

well, it depends on the pixel size, 99% of 17" standard lcds have a .265mm pixel, assuming that the widescreen is built along the same lines(and every one I've seen uses that size pixel) then the diagonal is only 15.5" so it would focus just as well as on a standard 15" lcd, the diagonal is what counts for the triplet, not the width of the lcd..however the throw sould be much longer with the pro..

If you can afford it and you want 1080I with a 15" lcd you would need a wuxga laptop lcd and a controler to run it

Jon. Close but no cookie.
The distance from the center to the corners is the important factor for the lens' ability to focus and for it to be able to light.
A 15" widescreen isn't any worse than a 15" 4:3. The width of the panel isn't what's important, it's the distance from the center of the panel to the corner. In both cases, 7.5" (Okay, the widescreen is probably 15.4", so it's 7.7" Still not a big deal.)
As such, the standard lens is perfectly adequate. What is not adequate is the fresnels. The fresnels in the standard lens package are not wide enough to reach the edges of the screen, and as such will not project it. However with third parth fresnel lenses, such as those from 3dlens.com, you should have no trouble getting a perfectly acceptable picture from the standard triplet.
