However after I was reading up on the rest of the compnents it seems that i will be SOL when it comes to mounting this in my wall 14-16feet away from the screen?

Coffee table isn't really an option.. Or hanging from the roof. I may just do it inside of another bedroom vs the living room, but its kind of a let down that it cant throw that far

So, What is the max distance a DIY projector can be used? 6 feet away from the screen? Triplet : Screen distance?

Or am I just being a nervous nelly?

I saw a guy that is using it "DIKTA" something or other from the spanish speaking forum, but it seems to get the distance he wanted, he took apart the triplet, and bent fresnels... I'm not saying that I'm not up for the challenge, but as far as my first box, That seems impossible for me to do.

Should I be fine with a 17" Monitor and the long throw kit?

Thanks guys.

Yes, you are! Don't talk yourself out a fun project. I've got this exact same monitor and with the pro lens
set up, you should be fine. Plus you've got lots of info to go by here in the forums.
BTW I also have mine mounted in my wall and throwing @ 14'.

What If I wanted to project a 80" screen from 14 feet?

to stop the seemingly 1:1 ratio?

you'd need to find a triplet with focal length around 750mm. good luck rolleyes.gif

Their not that hard to come by, you just have to look. I think I have one, you also will need a longer fresnel. Or you can also just add a negative menicus and a positive menicus lens in a tele-photo arrangment to lengthen the throw, but each additional lens eats some light.

You need to use this

focal calculator

you can tell it the size of picture you want and how far you want to project it and it will tell you what triplet you need or any other combination of measurements
