Hi
Design can be used for Horizontal or Vertical Projector.
Just move sled to new box .
Tried to keep as much of Benq's set up as possible.
Just waiting on Ballast and Mogul base.

good idea, just seems a little narrow, i guess you are not planning any keystone correction at all, and also with the length of the wood frame in the front, you will have to design a smaller focus box or something like that to clear it.

Slots for Keystone are already cut.
About 5/8 or 11/16 in front of LCD slot Cant remember which is in front, plans are in shop.
It goes from 1/8" wide at top to 1" wide at bottom, 1/4" deep.
Cant see them in picture because its painted black.

yes i can see them, nice idea but a little sceptical on it working you you, 1/8" at top ( no room for glass to mount fresnel to) and 1" at botton i think this will only allow about a max. of a 8 deg. angle for keystone correction, and apears you are going to have a fixed keystone. thi smay have been worked out by you on your particular setup. I guess if i was doing it i would alow for future expansion and flexablility. but i do like the way you have made it all one unit and able to keep everything all together.
Oh, and i hope you do not take my post the wrong way just trying to help in your layout.

i love it. nice and solid, i like the ability to change boxes with this setup.looks like you will clear all the curcuit boards nicely, and have nice solid plugins. the only thing i would relook at is the keystone setup, because if your angles (slots) are wrong you will have to find another way to adjust it. maybe you could center piviot the lens with a slot in the front sides of your sled to move it forward/back, and a set of wingnuts on the outside to tighten the lens in place when you have it where you want it.

what need to pivot? the lcd panel, or the front fresnel , OR both?

steveh,
i built my sled from aluminum channel a couple months ago. it's light weight and looks very close to yours. i kept my benq 567s V2 LCD power and control boards in the original mountings as you did. i found there was enough room to slide a focus box, similar to OKflyboy's, and get plenty of focus. i also built my focus box modular so i can replace the whole front box w/ a box containg the mirror for stand up. in retrospect, i think i'll attempt a differnt style of focus mechenism for the stand-up. something that allows small, easy adjustments.

bad news steve. i just tried the mirror at a 45 angle to bend the projection 90 degrees and stand the pj up. my original intent was to hang it from the ceiling. the sled idea has some drawbacks though.
here's what i found.
1) reflective side of mirror facing away from bottom lcd controls ( mirror pointing up)- image is right side up when projected on the wall, but reversed side to side ( subtitles are backwards).
2 rflective side facing control boards - distance to trpllet is ok, a little longer than the distance in the manual to overcome the control boards. some focus lost for larger images and i question light loss. again image reversed side to side (sub titles are backwards).
tried a side projection also - image is still reversed left to right.
this means if u want a side or vertical projecton out of the box our sled will have to face the rear of the box. if you haven't completed the box yet, think about building a sealed (from heat) bottom compartment for the control pannel portion of the sled to slide into. for me this would mean a major box redesign. yuk. i thought about pulling all boards out of thier mountings and dumping the sled, but i don't think that will work either. after playing w/ those 4 ffc on the lcd control board, i'm not sure they could take that much bending. if u have any ideas, please tell.
i bring this to u're attn since you mentioned the sled would work for vertical or horizontal
hope this helps

WOW. Thanks for the reply and everthing you guys noticed was right on the money.
I switched mine from out the top to out the front with a mirror and your exactly right it was reversed so I turned the whole thing around and luckily my box was big enough to allow this. The fresnels needed to be switched as well. I put a cover over the electronics and changed the air flow a little bit.
My biggest concern was the ribbon cable from the screen to the boards was right in the air passage blocking airflow across the screen..
Ive got 2 120mm fans in the bottom drawing air in from every crack in the box so it hasnt been a problem.
These things crank out some heat. Its giving the air conditioner a run for its money.
Venting outside in the summer timeis looking like a good idea.
I need to post some current pictures this is ancient history . everythings been redone a few times since I posted that but Believe me we have been watching lots of movies.!!!!
GREAT BIG 100+ inch movies !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
