I don't know for sure, but would imagine that the resolution for most panels are listed in dots (RGB) and not pixles. Sorry, I didn't spend a great deal of time checking them out yet. Some are still pretty impressive if that's the case... if by some slim chance (and it would be very slim) these (small ones, 5 - 8 inches) are listed with actual resolutions then there are some AMAZING panels here.

Doesn't say anything about contrast or response time.

To be honest, I was a little disappointed with the resolutions. I'm also a bit confused by the first figure used, I suspect they do mean RGB (so 960 x 234 is actually a 320 x 234 resolution). But not all of the panels listed seem to use this convention.

Reading through the site, to get anything with more than 234 lines of vertical, you need to step up to an 8.4" panel at 800 x 600 (not listed as RGB res I suppose). They want $469 for it!!

In comparison, the PSONE LCD is 320x234 (or close) and it can be bought for less than $50. The Hami I own is 800x600 @ 8" and I payed about $150 for it.

Some of the smaller panels would be worth a shot... I like the 3.5" 600 x 234, that could be a good one. Or the 1.8": you could probably get away with no fresnel lenses.

I'll be checking back on this vendor in the future, maybe one day something along the lines of a 4" 1280x720 panel will be available.

Assuming it is not listed as rgb, and I don't think it, the one I found coolest was the 2.5" one they had... it seems to be slightly better (higher res) than the PSONE.

The PSone lcd is actually a native 640x480 rez. You would need to do the "vga mod" to use all of those pixels though, otherwise it will only use about half of them.

Got 4 brand new ones here as a matter of fact, picked em up on clearance at Kmart for $13 each. Also got 4 of their car adapter kits for $4 each. Couldn't pass it up smile.gif

I'm pretty sure the native res. is 320x240. The VGA mod simply allows you to feed it a 640x480 signal from a PC.

At 320x240, a 5" LCD would have a pitch size of about .30mm, which is about what most commercially available LCDs have. To double the resolution, to 640x480, a pitch size of 0.15mm would be required, making this LCD one of the most advanced available on the consumer market, even today. Considering it was built years ago, and is priced so cheaply, this doesn't seem to add up.

But, I could be wrong. I which case, the $150 I spent on my Hami would have been pretty dumb.

Did some followup after your post and it turns out we're both right, or wrong.. hehe

The PSone lcd is supposedly capable of 640x480i (interlaced) with a vga connection. I forget all the vagaries on how this 'might' be possible but maybe someone who undertstands lcd math can answer tongue.gif

It's 320x240. The VGA mod just allows it to accept a 640x480 signal which it then downscales to 320x240.

Just like many Lcd's accept a higher resolution and then downscale them to their native resolution.
