Full Version: Sabre's Lumengraph Brightness Visualization Program

Hey guys!

I'm not much of a poster but I've been around here for a while and read the board quite regularly. So I cam across this thread about Elken's ceramic lamps yesterday along with all of the really pretty and informative graphs that he made. I was quite disappointed to learn that the software was not readily availble and costs quite a bit so I tried my hand and making something similar for me and everyone else to use for free. I call it LumenGraph. It takes any picture and makes a colorized contour plot out of it based on brightness. You can easily spot lighting variations with it just like Elken's software. Please give it a try and let me know what you guys think. If you think its useful I'll keep making some improvements on it. Suggestions are quite welcome too. Some screenshots and download link are below:

These pictures were pulled off of the thread linked above. Thanks to the people who took them!

The above pic processed through the program:

It's fully 3d and rotatable.

Requirements:
-.NET 2.0 Framework link
-DirectX 9.0c
-Some kind of 3d card. Only tested nvidia so far.

-I run this program on a Geforce 7900GT and it runs beautifully. I have also tried
an integraded MX4400 and it runs OK. Apparently it has very low limit for the maximum
amount of vertices in a vertexBuffer or something so if the image is too large, it
may get chopped off. If you see this happening, try shrinking the image.

History

Version .2
--------
Added software vertex processing. If you hit a bug, try using this mode. Might work
better for ATI cards.

The first version!

Looking good, Sabre. I hope you continue to develop it. It would make an excellent addition to the calibration tools.

Looks awesome!
I don't have .NET 2.0 though (aparrently) so I haven't actually got to try it on my own comp yet...

Personally, I like how the output looks, I think it's better than the software elken was using.

Thanks Sabre I will give it a try soon.

This looks really cool sabre! Perhaps it should be standard issue with plogs... a new way to show off your uniformity smile.gif

Can't make it work... Framework 2.0, 1.0, 1.1 and even 3.0 installed.

is there a certain resolution the picture has to be for it to work? I loaded my pic but all I get is four white lines that I can rotate around.....

I love it! I just did a quick video so everyone could see it in action. Hope it helps.

Great job on the program!!!

This looks like it will be very helpful for tweaking.
Also if anyone is interested there's a program called Dead Pixel Buddy that might go along very well with this.
It's meant specifically for LCD's and puts up a solid color across the entire screen.

Hope this helps,
