Full Version: How Far Can The Lexan Be From The Light

I have a LL t15 400w and LL eballast I'm thinking of make some kind of light box. I was just think of the heat. I've also got a 120mm fan that I'm gonna use. how close or far can 1/8 lexan be from the light without it melting into goo?

Put it as close to the rear fresnel as you can!

I built mine into my lightbox, its about 2" away from the bulb. With no fans on it it sags considerably when the light is on for a while. But I have a fan directly cooling it off and it is fine.

I like the lexan closer because that way it contains most of the heat right there. With it that close my lcd and fresnels barely get warm.

Can you place the rear fresnel directly against the Lexan? Or will it trap too much heat?

I've seen a bunch of PJs with the rear fressy in direct contact with the lexan. Mine will have about 1/4 inch gap with no airflow though. no idea if its going to cause problems
