Hi,

Could this "IVAR" cabinet (16x12x33") with a little modifications be used as a box?

It's cheap and the materials are good quality! With a saw and a drill this could be the perfect box from IKEA.

Here's the link: http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/serv...productId=11309

I could be wrong, but it is short for standard lense, I have two non-folded LL projector (15" and 17"), both are 30" in lenght.

I'm using a pre-made cabinet for my standard-lens PJ - check out my plog

If you're okay to deal with the extra size, I'd definitely go with a bigger box. At this point I've had to do a tremendous amount of alteration to the cabinet in order to fit everything in. So far, I've managed to find a way, but there have definitely been times when I considered scrapping the whole thing and starting over.

I'm using a couple Ivar side pieces (the 12"x49" size) as a frame for my folded vertical pro PJ.

Guys have you looked into using Aluminium Profile building systems, a bit of an industrial look to them, well they are used for building custome machines but could be cool. Could slot in Wood, Metal or even blacked out glass panels in the slides!!!

One of many systems

http://www.aluminium-profile.co.uk/

They are cheap and you can build almost anything you want with them, they even have alot of add on parts such as motorised attachments.

Best part is, parts can slide and move so you can make all the adjusments you want.

Just a sugestion

There are at least 3 people here using those here:
ArchibaldTuttle's Vertical Pro
Arctan's Bfp-1080p - Borg Cube
And.. mine: Hirudin's Pluto

The stuff is cool, but it gets expensive FAST! The extrusions are sorta cheap ($18 or so for a pro PJ size box) but the brackets are where they get you (corner brackets are ~$2.50+ EACH).

And about that ikea box, it's specs are pretty close to mine, which is 16.5x13x37... Maybe with the "box within a box" focus mech on the front it would be perfect...

Would it work for a 17" screen or are the optics just not going to fit in that frame?
