Hi everyone! I finally built my pro straight shooter projector but i have trouble getting both the corners and the center focused at the same time. I'm using a samsung 731b ( undergoing AG-strip with rag method), and the Pro triplet with Pro fresnels. The brightness is also needed to be boosted up a bit. What tweaks can I do to get better focus and brightness? There are still alot of light leaks to be sealed and the inside isnt painted black yet. This projector is very important to me since i'm on my 3rd LCD and it needs to be awesome quality. Either the center can be very sharp or the corners are but not both. Fresnels are 1.5cm apart and the lcd is about the same distance apart. THe ll65k bulb is 220m away with the Ikea reflector an inch away. Sheet of Lexan-XL 10 in place and I'm projecting a little under 100inch diagnal. Also, how important is the surface you are projecting it on to?

The focus problem could be to do with the fresnels not being totally flat and streight.

There was another person with a similar problem reciently. (Actually this problem happens a lot, aparrently the pro triplet is not designed intuitively or something...) The fix was to turn the pro triplet around.

The flange of the triplet is closest to the LCD, the side without the flange will be closer to the projection screen.

As far as the surface goes, I would imagine just so long as the surface is flat the image projected on it should have equal focus. [edit]As long as keystoning isn't coming into play as well[/edit]

The flange is faced correctly. It's just that it's not ALL focused

Check your alignments. The pro triplet works really well when it's aligned properly, but I've found that a slight misalignment can cause problems. It doesn't need to be MUCH out of alignment before things start to go awry.

It can't hurt to double-check.

As to brightness, the DIY projector design does suffer somewhat in that department, but I can attest that the pro setup is capable of decent brightness.
