Anyone have any opinions on this? Or really any advice at all about buying a tv tuner card/box? Thanks biggrin.gif

I have that card and it is ok. I have never used the video inputs on it I normally use it for the TV tunner. for the pj you might want to get somthing better.

I own a total of 3 of those cards.

While there are better cards in terms of features and CPU usage, these are pretty good. The software that comes with it does a reasonable job, and sccales quite well, so that a fullscreen picture is quite watchabl, without a lot of nasty blocking or other artefacts. It IS a big CPU hog though.

I use one of these in a PC (With a ton of HDD space) as a VCR. Again with the bundled software, and it is satisfactory.

A friend of mine has the Hauppage card, and is only happy with the picture that he gets in smaller (~60" of a 110" screen) He's seen mine, and agrees that it's perfectly acceptable in full screen resoluition.

All in all, I give it good marks.

Thanks for the input guys. These forums are great.

SupraGuy, sounds like this might be the card for me. Have you used the card to play video games or just watch TV? And if you have played games, what consoles (if any)? Fortuanetly, I'm a computer guy and have several PCs so the cpu usage shouldn't be too big of a problem. biggrin.gif

If you don't mind I'll ask another question tongue.gif ... I managed to get a 15" LCD for free, however it has 30ms response time. I'm going to primarily be using my pj for gaming so I think I've decided to go ahead and buy a better LCD. I've already ordered the standard lens kit from LL. So am I forced to get a 15" LCD, or will the standard ($65) kit support larger monitors? Thanks again and take care.

Edit.. Nevermind about that last question. I just read SupraGuy's FAQ which clearly answered my standard lens kit/big lcd question (as well as lots of other stuff I'd been thinking about.) Thanks

I have an old SNES and an older Commodore 64 which I've used with the TV tuner. It's fine. I also have several PCs, and since I'm not doing anything else with the machines while they're recording/playing, CPU doesn't matter much to me, either. wink.gif

Overall, I found that the card is cheap, decent quality, and while ht oftware can be something of a pain in the rear to configure, it works quite well.
