Here's the article from Samsung -
http://www.lostmeridian.com/lostmeridian/2...ng_develop.htmlFrom where I read about it first -
http://hardware.slashdot.org/hardware/06/08/12/2017229.shtmlI just read about this on Slashdot and thought some people might find this somewhat exciting... the price will probably be slightly high at first, but is bound to come down. I foresee the world's smallest 480p LL projector in the near future.

Would this be small enough that we could forget about fresnel lenses altogether?? DIYer's could instead use those light tunnels (or something like this) to collimate the light and just use a triplet with a diameter 3" +...
What I don't understand is, why is this such a 'big event'??
My parents have a 42" Sony LCD TV (projection based) that operates from a panel that is 0.75" with a resolution of 1280x720. Clearly we can get huge resolutions out of tiny panels.
Is it that this is just the first economically produced VGA small panel??
Either way, I'd buy one for a PJ if the price was right. Could you imagine how small your PJ could be?? Probably great for an RPTV, with a big short focal length triplet.

You bring up a good point. I really don't know, but I did some research and most commercial LCD projectors use 3 LCD panels- RGB, then use a prism to merge them.
Anyone have an explanation for the seeming discrepancy?
