T15 is the bulb type.. there are many T15 bulbs, all with the same dimensions, etc. 65k refers to the color temp, 6500k. As to who makes it, I have no idea!

The new 6500k LL bulb is not a direct replacement of the older 4200k (or 4400k??) bulb. The light source is not centered in the same location from old to new bulb. The new bulb has the light source closer to the base which means the braket holding the bulb socket need to extend further towards the center of the projector.
Ther is a big difference in the bulb color quality and brithness though which is beautiful!

While we're on the subject; do these lamps need to be mounted vertically, i'm pretty sure they dont though i would like this confirmed???

I originally planned to mount it 'up right', though after looking at the dimentions again i have to change to a horrizontal fixture as i've built my box a fraction to small (hieght wise). Are there any conciquences with using it sideways, such a debris in the lamp etc..... ?
thanks

LL bulb can be mounted either way, however, it typically burns a little brighter when mounted vertically.

could someone tell me the brand name stamped on the lamp at least?
i've been looking through a bunch of major lamp brand web sites (with dialup=5+ hours) and the closest i've found to the stated values of the ll65k T15 is this one by EYE
http://www.eyelighting.com/cleanarc.html with the exception of the physical measurments. i know the ll65k is not an ushio or venture, but philips, slyvania, and GE's websites weren't very helpfull

The only markings on the bulb is "MH400W". There are no other markings or writting on the bulb or the packaging.

The packaging I received has all the information. It is a CoralVue bulb so they arent making their own lamps.

that is really odd. did the packaging look like this?
http://www.coralvue.com/bulbs.htmlif so, then what is up with the conflicting color temp?
I think i'm tempted to go with the EYE bulb i found earlier, as it toutes all the same features as the ll65k T15 but is slightly smaller. can anyone think of any objections to this plan? (http://www.eyelighting.com/cleanarc.html)
(oh, other than costing $15 more...)

It's the exact same box as that. But it says 6500k right on it. Hmmm im not sure about the conflict. The sticker looks like it should say something else but then it looks like an exacto knife was used to cut it out and a little sticker that says 6500k is printed right on top. Now I'm really curious. I'll take a picture tomorrow and post it up. (no access to a camera right now)

Yes you can. The only issue I've found up to date is it may take a few cycles before the bulb starts. Usualy within a minute or two.

My box looked nothing like that. The bulb was in a fully sealed cardboard box (same type of cardboard as a cereal box).

depends what wattage youre going for. the 400w T15 EYE bulb is LARGER than the LL t15. LL bulb is 270x46mm, EYE bulb is 292x48mm. The t17 is slightly shorter, but fatter. Also, neither 400w bulbs are universal and I don't think either can be mounted vertically. Also, they say both require an enclosed fixture, but I suppose thats only to reach the true brightness specs.

The confusion is due to the fact that we sold one batch of the Coralvue lamps while waiting on our custom (shorter) lamps to come in. Now we only sell the lamp we have made exclusively for us. The factory that makes the lamps normally makes 10k lamps, so some of the packaging details may have markings that say 10k or similar. They are 65k lamps with a CRI of 92 or higher. Great lamps! The best yet.

To put the bulb issue to rest, Lumenlab is the only place that Vue Technology sells the Coralvue 400w 6500k bulb, simply because, in their words, ""
We do not sell 6500K bulbs for the aquarium market because there is no demand for this color temperature anymore"" Now we know.

So even tho it says "10k" right on the bulb, its still a 65k bulb? I was wondering about that.

Hi Brainchild (or other knowing one).
This lamp is the available best for our purposes?
I miss the life span (Price/performance ratio) and arc gap.
Those are important to me.
Can you supplement these data in the Shop?
Is there also 250W? 400W costs much more energy/money. Adds up in the course of the time.
I want to illuminate only 250cm diagonal (IKEA Tupplur) by one 15.4 " WUXGA LCD.
There isn't 250W enough?
A dimmable evg would be perfect. 250W to 400W. Or if possible 150W to 400W.
The light quality should not suffer from it.

I need help about this Lamp Mess... I just bought an EVO 1.1, I hope it comes soon! But my problem is that I live in Brazil - Rio de Janeiro.
I wanted to know from Brainchild or anyone of you, wich lamp should I look for as replacement if someday I need to replace my lamp.
Because I could buy another lamp from LumenLab, but it would take time to get in here. I wish I could buy it easily here in Brazil.
So, what are the specifications of the lamp. Is there any other like Philips, Osram, GE that I should find easy here in Brazil?
Imagine I am watching a movie and then I have to switch to old TV! LOL
Its always good to have an alternative or a spare one!
Thanks! And Please! Send soon my sweety EVO!!!! =-)
