I just receive my e-ballast (Vue) but the wiring diagram is confusing me.

The mogul base have a blk and white wire where blk is center contact of the bulb.

The ballast has 3 wires: blk/wht/green.

The instructions states: connect center contact of bulb to the wht/blue wire and the side contact to blk/brn wire.

This will result in the blk and wht wire of the mogul connected to opposite colors of the ballast... wht connected to black and black connected to white! Is this correct???

Don't sweat it. It really doesn't matter. Conventionally the center contact of a light fixture is "HOT/BLACK" and the screw socket is "NEUTRAL/WHITE" but it makes no difference in the function of the circuit.

Think of the lamp as being non-polar if ya want.

Thanks, Durachko. My blood pressure is starting to come down. I'll give it a try.

No sweat. If you think about it having the center contact HOT is just the barest shade safer than the other way around.

While it might make no difference to the function of the circuit, it makes a lot of difference to the safety of the circuit. Neutral is connected to the outside so that if you accidentally touch the outside part of the base when say changing the bulb, you won't get electrocuted.

Very true - and kinda pointed out rolleyes.gif . Natural selection takes care of those of us silly enough to install a projector bulb into an energized mogul. wink.gif

Thanks again for the help, guys. Test fire worked like a charm. Hopefully, I'll be up and running within 2 weeks.
