I have probably posted this in the wrong section....Sorry.

I am a thicko when it comes to the subject of computers, electronics and screens (if it doesn't run on petrol I am stuffed)

Please can someone tell me what is the best / fastest?

4ms (GTG) [I assume this means grey to grey] or 8ms (which I assume is black to white).

The reason why I ask is that I ordered Xerox XA7-192i monitors (8ms) because I needed the hardglass screens.
It would appear that the UK has sold out of these, and I have been offered Agneovo E-19 monitors (4ms GTG) instead.

I have become very confused, because I see on various websites the agneovo monitor response rate is quoted at anything from the 4ms to 10-15ms average, to 25ms.....

What is the truth? Is the ag neovo any good?

I also saw a review that said the ag neovo wasn't 'video compatible'....what does this mean?....It has DVI cable etc.

Thanks Al.

Searching multiple sites for this monitor, I noticed that both buy.com and tigerdirect had it listed as 4ms. But zipzoomfly had it listed at 12ms. I shall look deeper.

EDIT: Ahh, the monitor on zipzoomfly is the E-19a that might be different from the E-19 (maybe not.)

Ok, the manufacturer's website says that it is 4ms GTG. Though the inconsistancy in reports from other places such as zipzoomfly does bother me.

Hope that helps.

You have spotted the same iconsistencies....I have seen the rate quoted by other sites as 25ms.

Have retailers run their own tests and come up with an average?....I doubt it.

So is 4ms Grey to Grey any better than 8ms (say, Black to White/White to Black)?

Believe me, I am confused!

Thanks Al.

geez I am running a poor rated 12mS,,, I really dont think it is too much drama so long as you are under 16- 25mS...

this is from several panels I have had in a PJ,, experience

what is more important is to try and get a genuine 16.7 million colour panel,,, dithering takes away processing power from panel CPU

Another thing is, why do you need a hard glass monitor? I assume that it isn't for a projector. (Maybe I'm getting confused though.) As stated, as long as you get 16.7 million colors, and response time below 25ms, (I'd go with below 16ms) Then the specifics shouldn't matter much. Also, the monitor I saw with 12ms response time was the E-19a, which may be different from the E-19. If so, then make sure the inconsistencies you have been finding aren't due to the monitors being different models.

Hope that helps. (probably not though)

Thanks to both of the reply contributors.

I want the hardglass monitors for two reasons, like, two broken monitors.

One, I stuck a sharp pencil through the flexible skin....and the carbon didn't help the circuitry, let alone the skin.
Two, apart from kids fingerprints and sticky hands, five year old did much the same as I did.

The E-19 I have here is the 'A' model, so I guess it will probably be OK. I don't do gaming, but I do high resolution / big file size stuff in PShop.

So....I guess you think it is OK, then?

Thanks again, Al.

Yes, that would be a good reason to have a hard screen. If you're not gaming then I woud say yes, that monitor should be fine. I would however google for some reviews on the monitor to see how accurate its color is, if you plan on doing a lot of photoshop stuff. But other than that...

Thanks again.....so far I haven't seen any bad reviews (well, one bad, out of about 20 good, spread out across various sites).

The odd/interesting thing about these ag neovo monitors is the separate cigarette packet sized power transformer.....gets fairly warm......But the monitor case itself is only slightly warm.

The original Xerox I had (too long ago to remember how it performed) and a couple of Dell ones got really hot.....I assume the transformer is inside the monitor case on these?

Regarding the colour, it isn't that different to my old CRT 15" that I am struggling with....just a bit brighter, which could be down to being 'not clapped out'?
