I have a n00b question for you guys. I have an old Sony 52" RPTV that was given to me. I came across this site and would love to put a 15" LCD projector inside. I would like to keep the exsisting tv and just mount everything inside if possible. attached you will find images reguarding the size of the cabinet.

I'm fairly certain that im going to have a distance of roughly 4ft from the screen to the lens. if anyone has any suggestions on how to proceed, I would appreciate it.

Thanks

i have looked at those and studied them closely. My question is will i be able to fit the everything i need into the small space of the unit?
and another thing, if i use a smaller tripplet, i can have the same end scren size, with less distance between the lense and the screen. correct?

I was looking at your pictures, and I just can't see where you would put the mirror? The back of the unit is not tall enough...I am not sure at all your lenticular screen would be compatible with a lumenlab pj. I did try rear projection before using only the old lenticular RPTV screen but the mirror on the old RPTV would come almost as high as the top of the unit. It worked fine but wide angle viewing was unacceptable. Anyway, you would likely have to build something in the back of the unit to hold the mirror in place high enough.

Also, your screen seems old (how about your viewing angles?) and 4:3 ratio...
if you were to build a pj, with all of the efforts it takes, wouldn't you be aiming at high def widescreen...which you may find rather small on your 52inch 4:3 aspect screen, in relation to what your pj's potential would be. Anyway, just some thoughts. Goold luck biggrin.gif

The mirror goes from the back of the unit to the top front. The actual projection source is at the bottom front of the unit, and shoots upward at an angle towards the mirror which is then bounced to the screen. I was thinking of using a standard 4:3 15" computer monitor that i already have as the video source.

I know that I am doing to have to replace the screen, but I was planning on keeping the mirror inside. If you would like for me to take some more pictures of the inside of the unit, I can do so.

to make it work in that cabinet, the lcd has to be severly keystoned 7 / \ this wll deform it ehough, now i dont know how far u can push it in this situation but thats how far you have to deform the pic on the CRTs to make it fit..

I really hope this help and wish the best... If interest intails, ill draw up a little diagram on how its folded and y the deforming is nessesary (along with the extreemly short throw lens)
