I don't have a 6500k lamp, I have the one previous to that, the number is worn off but it did come from LL, but I do have a 6500k on order. Sorry if I said that wrong previously.
This is just for me, I've been on the planet for some 54 years and what I've found is that I learn more when someone points me in a direction and I take it from there. Thats just the way I work, I know everybody is not the same. I'm not going to spend time killing brain cells trying to get the info. I'm just going to do it, again I know thats me.
I will share what I find for what thats worth.
Go for it. More tests, measurements and opinions are always welcome!
And you have a slightly different lamp.

shotfire321,
So you have a 220mm condenser fresnel ?.
We are trying for a long time now to understand if the 150W lamp that elken is using will work with the 220mm condenser fresnel. According to elken's test, it can't. He said something about the cone becoming too visible, and the whites becoming yellow.

I have a question that nobody seemed to pay attention to. You said you have a pincushion problem with the pro kit? Are your corners in perfect focus with the pro kit? I have the same pincushion problem and cannot figure out why. Just seeing if you have found a remedy?

I'm currently using a 220mm/.5 and no reflector and no PreCon. It has darkened corners on all four sides. I have no idea if the reflector and/or PreCon would fix that. I have the reflector on order and a LittleFatBoy from a 35mm pj in hand. My gut feeling is it won't work right. I would agree with elken. I'll know for sure when I get my Pro Kit, then I can move the 330mm to the rear.
Color, don't know. I have nothing currently to compare to. But will soon.

what about a little summary in the 1st post? it would probably be of help to new people.

Foam,,, the lens is new to me, so I all still getting to know it, so to speak, with that said,,, I have observed two things, but these may still be alignment probs
I dont have pincusion across the top of image, but do at bottom and left side, the right side is mild (maybe my trippy is off z axis line) optical axis "as in lens shift"
what is interesting is that the bottom right corner, with a cross hatch pattern is the the red and blue focusing off the green, reminds me of the horror of tube convergence aligments in TV's yukkkk will check this further actually its the entire right hard side to about a quarter way to the centre of screen,,, this will be a skew error with the PRO trippy for sure, (its not the lens itself)
another interesting thing showing is using a cirlce test pattern, I have ghosty effect on the outer side of big circle,, which show the fress rings and the dark voids very clear,, will pic this shortly
elken2004
Sep 14 2006, 04:57 AM
now these two are first one on left side centre of screen second one right side near bottom screen
now if you look carefully left of vertical lines you will see a ghost shadow, and the fresnel' rings, the dark bands are the voids produced by the 'pointy' bit of the facets,, where no light is sent thru..
now this ghosting is not visible unless you are up close to screen
ok more testing done by varying focus well inside and well outside of true focus, shows that where the ghost was strong on left side on inside of focus, it swaps to right side screen on outside focus and weakens on left side.
when both sides are at min,, lines are sort of focused on left and right sides of screen but centre has lost focus
what this all tells me is that the positions of fresnels are critical to get opt focus, less artifacts, and that the optical aligns with the pro are much more critical than with std,, I think the pincusion is being created by a skewed trippy, (tilted and or skewed) even as carefull as I was to things being square.. I will do a set of measures to check all of this,, then do a lens shift up and down to see how much the pincusion is affected,, I know it will, but until then

To get those condensers working you will have to use two 600mm fresnels for the tall one but it might just work with just one lens.
What would be the FL of the two condensers combined ( is it OK to ask, I didn't ask for lux readings or anthything) or the fl of each one?
