Ok i got my bulb and ballast today, i put it in my PJ, and turned it on and everything worked. then i turned it off. i turned it back on about an hour later, and it was workign great (a lot hotter then i expected :/) So i turned it off because i didnt have my metal sheets up and i didnt want to burn my pj into the floor. So i went to turn it on about 20 mins later to show my mom and the bulb flashed didnt even flash like it did before. So i unplugged it and checked all the connections. they were all fine. so i plugged it back in and it flashed but then it didnt warm up. So i figured it was too hot. So i went out and just got home, a couple hours later, and went to plug it in and nothing. When i plugg it in, the ballast is drawing power because my old shitty garage light flickers a bout a second after i plug it in.

any ideas?

These bulbs need to heat up to melt the metal salts. They get brighter as they get hotter, but if they are switch off too soon the metal salts don't deposit properly and they can cause problems with the bulb, I though it was mostly a shorter life, I've not heard of a failure due to this. They also must be allowed to fully cool be for restarting which is called the restrike time which is ussually 5-10 minutes. The garage light flickering may mean that you are overloading the circuit it maybe a good idea to plug into another circuit.

no the garage light just flickers when it first turns on, so i know the ballast is getting power. It been well over 6 hours before i tried the second time so it had plenty of time to cool down. If my bulb is bad is there some kind of warrenty on it? or do i have to buy another one, because if i do, i think im selling my unfinished pj :/

No body warrentees bulbs, there should be a clicking as the ballast tries to restart, are you hearing anything??? The bulbs aren't that expensive, or it could be the ballast or a fuze or bad wiring or the bulb gods don't like you (you did make a donation to the bulb gods didn't you?).

Also, NEVER SHOW ANYTHING TO YOUR MOM! If she's anything like my mom, something can work 50 times in a row, once I try to show her everything screws up... we both hate it!
