Hi guys/girls. I just got this FFC Connector from DIY-Beamer.com

http://diy-beamer.com/EN/store/comersus_vi...sp?idProduct=52

But I dont understand how it works, in one side I can put the FFC cable in with no problem, but on the otherside I cant put in the other cable.

Does anyone know what to do?

Or should I have order this?

You're prolly going to want something closer to the second one. But even that isn't exactly right.

What you want is an FFC extension. As with any extension (from garden hose to HDMI cable) it'll need both a male connector and a female connector.

If a true extension isn't available you'll need to buy the second product (which is a gender changer) and an FFC cable with 2 male ends. Put them together and you have an extension cable.

Yeah. The pins on the other side are normally soldered / connected to the
circuit board somehow. Totally unusable unless you know how to solder
really tiny.

I actually wish I had one of those right now, because instead of using that
I'm going to have to sandwich two pieces of clear thick plastic together
over both FFC connectors.

To use the FFC connector you have to put your ffc and the extension ffc cable face to face and slide them both into the connector. Then try your best to close the locking mechanism (the brown thing). It will probably be difficult to close, but be very careful. I was extending one once and slipped and tore my ffc almost in half.

The reason we use the FFC connectors and not just try to clamp them together with something else is that the alignment has to be perfect on those teeny tiny ffc pins or you won't get a signal to your lcd. They are very difficult to align perfectly without one of those connectors that they are made for.

You might want to check out this thread Note on using the FFC extension kits, How to extend... .

Good luck.
