Is it possible to use a Basic Stamp 2 chip for a CNC machine?

I’ve dabbled into cnc protocols some years ago so my info maybe a bit outdated. I can’t see a reason why it wouldn’t be able to work. It’s a lot of work though might be easier just to get a pre-made controller.

I am very familiar with all of Parallax's ICs.
For a CNC you might want to use several SX chips instead. The SX chip is only a few bucks a pop and much faster than the basic stamp.
Or better yet. Use one of their new Propeller chips. It is an amazing chip. Has eight cogs(processors) and at only $25 bucks it is a steal.
Search their forums for CNC and you will find plenty to read.

The problem i see is they are limited to voltage input, like their bipolar stepper driver, for 109.00 is limited to 35v (which is way low for a bipolar board) a diy board is up to 55v, so i would go with a gecko drive which will alow up to 80v 7a input which will give you more than double the power and tourque from you motors.
just depends what motors you plan on using, there are also a few 3 axis boards for 80.00 to 100.00 which will perform much better.
