Here is a pic of my problem (I hope the pic shows up)

It is a very small and thin 10 wire, flat 'ribbon' cable conceting the two circuit boards that control my LCD screen. usually they sit on the back of the screen behind the light panal but obviously need to be moved before using it in the projector. I am looking for someway to extend the wire--I need to know what it is and if I can buy it somewhere. If I can not not buy it somewhere then I need to know my options. Thanks

This is what's know as an "FFC issue". (FFC = Flat Flexible Cable)

You can purchase extensions in the LL store, but it appears you have a 10pin, 0.5 pitch FFC. (5mm wide cable with 10 pins) The LL store carries a 20 pin extension (with ZIF socket), so this would need to be carefully split in half to use only ten pins. Another option would be to find a 10-pin one at a place like digikey.com. (maybe mouser.com ?)

Hope this helps.

cheers,

"RS Components" in Australia sell a 10 pin .5mm pitch cable. (and connectors)

I have this same issue, would soldering a longer wire from one port to the other be a viable option? I am pretty good with a soldering iron and it wouldnt be that hard, does the type of wire matter?
