While picking up more blackout cloth at my local fabric store, I came across a cotton material with an aluminized coating used for ironing board covers. Has anyone tried this?

I experimented with mylar backed sheets for a bit. It gave pretty good results. I think the thing we need to know is how wide a sheet can you get this stuff in? With BOC you can get it over 100 inches wide, which makes it ideal for screens.

The one I saw only came in a 45" width, so it would have to be pieced together somehow...however, at $5.99 a yard you haven't lost much if it doesn't work out biggrin.gif

The seam would have to be extra tight to be even partially tolerable. Still...I would love to see a shot with just a square yard. If you do, take a few snaps?

I plan on trying a small piece on my next day off, and putting it next to the blackout cloth for comparison. I will post pics when I do! I did come across one other material that would be perfect- it's called pearlex, and it consists of thousands of tiny beads of pearlised titanium. The company who makes it will do it in just about any width, and will even put a foam backing on the cloth. Unfortunately, I have not found any distributors in the US yet- it seems to only be available in England...any Brits out there who want to have a go at tracking some of this stuff down to see if it's as good as it sounds?
