My projector died. Customer support says I need to test the eballast with another bulb since the eballast is still sounding as if it's firing.
Question is - is this a proper bulb for the eballast? I don't want to blow up.

Well, it didn't blow up! Yay! But, it didn't light either.

Yeah an M59 should run on the eballast...
These 400W eballasts are pushing the envelope and are still kind of new in wattages this high. It seems that DIY's are always pushing the envelope. I guess once in a while things don't always go as well as planned in our world.
I personally have high expectations that the new eballast will perform well and be long lasting. Firstly they are American made and they obviously have a better heatsink (extruded aluminum case) than the old eballast.
Of course no one would blame you if you went with a coil at this point. Because of their complexity, eballasts will always have a higher failure rate than coils.

There's a new one coming? Didn't know that. I'll have to look into it.

if you are game and able,, pull that eballast apart and look for swelled top caps,, also pull board right out and look to see if any fets have spat the dummy,,, but if it is still clicking could be a crook cap,, your 110volt version run to damn hot,, our 240 volt ones work fine,,, just the nature of beastie..
