The 82V is the trick. It needs a ballast, which would be in the OHP that it was designed for.

Some OHP lamps can'will take a direct 120VAC from the wall. In those cases, you just need a socket for it.

or go with halogen work light which is sold for 9.99 or something and it comes with enclosure, reflector, tempered glass, safety grill , stand and 10 ft cord.

The OHP has a diode block in then to cut the voltage in half. Look for a replacment diode block most are less than $10.00
Dont buy from thes guys unless they are cheep
But half way down is your part called the Diode. They should be cheep so don,t pay $20.shipping.

If you try a dimmer switch, buy one with a rotary knob as those allow for easier fine adjustments. And as for the diode method, make
sure what you buy has correct the PIV(peak inverse voltage) and amperage rating otherwise it will be destroyed.

can you tell me what numbers i need to look at for the diode.....im going to try to find one locally instead of ordering........ive never had to buy a diode and im not sure what to get.......maybe i can cross-reference one with that 3m ohp diode???
also, what about the dimmer.......should it be any specific wattage, or i know they have them for incandescent bulbs only and fan speed(dimmers)....what should i look for specifically

good cuz i already bought 2 of em here locally for a little over seven dollars......i am correct in my thinking that i can run just it with my bulb on the hot wire without anything else right.......cuz i want to use it and the dimmer switch now, but i want to have full range on the dimmer switch(very bottom to very top), and still stay in my voltage range......to slow-start the bulb(try to preserve it as long as possible)
how do i change my group over there<------- from member to cusomer......ive already bought products from LL,

I don't believe you can use the diode and dimmer together. The diode limits the current to one-half of the AC waveform which would
interfere with the zero-crossing detector in the dimmer.

Well that's good news!! Could you please post the make and model number of the dimmer you used as this question will undoubtedly come up again.
