I want to use a long VGA cable. around 7-8 meters. (23 feet) Will I be experiencing video problems? will the quality of the projected image be reduced by that?
What is the limit for VGA cable? Thank you.

There is no absolute length for VGA cables.. it depends on signal bandwidth (resolution and refresh rate), cable type, strength of signal (some video cards seem to put out stronger, cleaner signals), and acceptable quality loss. You should be ok with 7-8 meters, but youre flirting with danger

If you would like some nice cheap high quality shielded cables, check out www.monoprice.com I just bought a 25ft cable from them just havent had time to replace my 15ft one from them. Their cables are nice and thick.

well I have 26 feet of multi cat6e, for DVI,, ran a 36 footer on vga,, works fine,,, its all in the twisted pairs,,
heheh sorry GAdget,, had to get that extra foot there,, I dont know how long it is,,,,
but cutting a normal cable ( dvi or vga ) in half then adding cat6e, or even cat 5 works a treat,,,

I read somewhere (I think on a cable sellers web site) that a VGA cable can be up to 50ft long and a DVI cable is only good up to 15ft before image quality is reduced.
The quality of the cable would play a part, also the source equipment. The standard vga cable supplied with 2 monitors I have is about 6.5mm dia. I have a 10metre VGA cable, it's about 8mm dia. apparently because of heavy individual wires inside. When hooked up to a set top box my image appears about the same as a short cable but if I connect it to my computer the image badly segmented. Maybe this is because signal strength from my PC graphics card isn't as strong-I don't know.
