brainchild,
I read somewhere that the fresnels you provide produce a picture with 4mm missing on the horizontal. Is this true? If so, is there a way to get the full picture? Thanks.

Yes these fresnels are a couple of mm too small on the horizontal. All the fresnels used in DIY are, it's just the largest we can get without going into the $120/lens category. It's not a big deal at all, we just decrease our screen size with the monitor's H size controls. Another option if you're worried about losing a couple of mms of screen width is to go with a 14" panel. Of note is that I'm trying to work a custom manufacturing deal with the Chinese company to make us some big lenses, but that's going to take a lot more capital than I have right now.

Rather than shrink just the horizontal, I would suggest doing the 'zoom' option that shrinks the vertical and horizontal at the same time, as that will keep the overall aspect ratio the same.

My $.02

the zoom feature mostly works on CRT monitors and not on most LCD monitors a totally different animal.

I assume the capital will be aquired to do this, using a group buy, once the zoom lens is ready to be ordered?

One would hope.

As far as I understand the situation, the deal will go on no matter how much capital Brainchild will raise. At this point he got the Chinese at a classic strangulation grip, all he need is to pull his elbow closer to his chest...

More seriously, at this point even if Brainchild does not raise enough capital, they have no choice, they must sell whatever they can to reduce losses.

For the future of this site I hope he'll be able to do it the right way.
