Full Version: Short But Big Throw Lens Wanted

Ok, I am in the planning stages of finishing my basement and originally intended to install a home theater with the standard LL PJ using front projection. However, I now have the option of turning one end of the basement into a "closet" with one wall built out from the basement wall about 6'. This wall would be about 15' across and 7.5' high. There is enough space in this "closet" that I would like build a RPTV into it but without the mirrors and such. Essentially I would set it up with a straight on pojection to the screen, only from behind (ie inside the closet). The thing is, I want a nice big screen so the typical 1:1 throw lens or the pro lens won't work, I need a short throw lens that gives a big picture. The distance from the front of the projector to the screen would be about 4' or a little more. I would like to get at least a 72" diag picture. Any suggestions for a lens that might work?

Thanks,
Chris

If I read correctly, you'll have about 6' from the wall to screen, which is huge! Thats a real luxury biggrin.gif If you do not find acceptable short throw lens, you could easily use a first surface mirror since you'll only need a very small FS mirror and they are cheap when small.
