Last night I stumbled upon a 14" LCD panel, going for quite cheap and with native reso 1280x1024, 24 bit true color. Pretty good specs, so I would like to consider using it..

However I'm not sure what else I would need to get it to work. I understand that I need a controller or motherboard of some kind..

and looking at the 15.4" WUXGA Group Buy page I suspect I would need an A/D Board, Inverter and OSD Board. Is this correct?

The seller says it comes with a its own PCB, is this all that I need?

also just confirming A/D stands for analog to digital, right?

thanks to all who have been patiently providing answers and advice

Having recently just been down that road I can tell you it's probably not worth it unless you can find the EXACT parts needed rather easily. The problem with piecing together a monitor like this is the severe lack of information and the inexactness of the part numbers. For example you might get an LCD that's from a monitor but won't work with a different production run of that monitor. Anyway, I would email the seller, or provide a link so others can check it out, and ask what exactly he means by PCB because it could mean any number of things. The group buys are nice because everything is already worked out ahead of time so you know it's going to work.

thanks, i've just sent a message to the seller about it.

it's an ebay auction, so not much info is provided.. but anyway, here's the link.

There is no controller shown in the auction pics, the PCB that is attached to the LCD is there on all LCDs.

Unless you're up for some major research I'd avoid it and go with a proven 15" or 17"

I agree, unless the seller gets real descriptive real fast I'd avoid this one.

Come on seller "14inch LCD panel, tested working" ??? Um, here's a thought: brand?

Yeah ok he doesn't seem to know.. or at least seems determined to withhold that information. thanks for the advice, I'm going to stick to getting a 2nd-hand LCD monitor.
