I've been looking at getting some of these to add to my ht, the problem is I'm not quite sure how I would hook them up. I am using a set of logitech z-5500 speakers for audio, and I think the bass shakers need to be hooked up to a receiver/amp. I think I could use a stereo-rca adapter to run to the receiver/amp, but can someone suggest a receiver/amp thats cheap? Thanks

Are you using a pc as your video source? If so, go to radio shack and get a stereo 1/8" y-splitter and a 1/8" stereo to RCA cable. Plug the splitter in the audio jack of the pc. Connect your logitech cable to one opening, the stereo to RCA cable on the other.

The cheapest: local thrift store

Find any stereo receiver that has phono inputs and one or preferably 2 sets of speaker outs. Should cost you between $10-20. Connect the RCA cable to PHONO input, and the bass shakers (1-4) in the speaker inputs. Set input to PHONO on the receiver and set volume to very low and move lsowly up until you find the combination you like.

victor-eyd: thats what I planned to do is get a y-splitter. and by thrift store I guess a place like goodwill?

OKflyboy: I read thru that already, its what kinda got me thinking about the whole bass shaker thing.

Depending on how you wire them, you can either use a regular old stereo rec/amp or you can use a special sub amp. Personally I would use the series method and connect them to a regular amp. A lot of the times you can find these at local repair shops, goodwills, thrift stores or even small music shops. If you cant get that, then try Radio Shack. The used to have some low power cheap amps that would do the trick. The BS's dont need a whole lot of power to run well.

Its worth it...wink.gif
