hi-
im thinking of making one but still trying to decide where/how to setup the room and what style of design i should implement (ceiling mounted, verticle, etc). im not too keen on drilling holes in my ceiling as i rent my apt so i want to get away with placing the projector on the floor. before i start building this thing i want to decide deffinately where its going to go.
so here is my question: how far from the screen does the projector need to be placed to achieve
1) a 60" view
2) a 100" view
thanks for the help!

You can find tools for calculating throw distances in the
Calibration and Tools forum. You'll want the
Throw Calculator and the
Focal Calculator. A few useful numbers to use in those calculators are the lens focal lengths: The Lumenlab standard lens is 320mm and the Pro Lens is 500mm.

you can find a focal calc in the attached forum that will allow you to enter in some of the specs of the lenses that yo will use. i am in the same situation you are. i was thinking of the vertical design. it will take up the least amount of space in the room if it is to sit on a stand or on the floor. i figure if i do move some day to a place to have it hang from the ceiling then ai could transplant the hardware to a new box.
