Hello,

I've found a very interesting stand-alone chip (Genesis FLI8548H) which can convert VGA/DVI/HDMI/YPrPb/... (up to 1080p) to LVDS. So you can drive a WUXGA LCD panel with it and you don't have to buy an aditional conversion box.

Here is more information:

Here is a HDTV using this chip:

Now my question is: how can I (we?) buy one of these wonderful chip? Does anybody know more about Genesis?

All your advices are welcome.

Many thanks in advance.

I don't know about that chip, but I can tell you that the Wingate GA2 controller that minoten was selling in his group buys uses a Genesis gm1601-LF controller chip for use with the WUXGA laptop LCD panels. That chip works quite well.

Genesis chips were running under the name of Faroudja for a long time and they give the best conversion for 3.2.2. progressive scanning as well as upconversion to 720p or 1080i.
One warning for anybody using devices with any of the Genesis IC-s: put a heatsink on the Genesis or it will not last long. smile.gif
