Hi,

I got my metal lampunit with a hole where the reflector sticks through behind. Now is my cooling idea to blow from behind against the metal plate so it will cool down and to suck the hot air with another 120mm fan right above the bulb (will the plastic hold this temperature btw?). Now my question is:

Will the reflector hold it cause @ the lamp side it hot as hell but the other side gets cold air. Will this work?

#1: Hell is very hot. wink.gif Or so I'm told.

Not quite sure what yer sayin' here.

Are you asking if the fan plastic can take the heat? Must be. My experience is that I can keep temps at or below ~100°F so that's okay.

Pun15her just related he's messin' with temps on the order of >200°F IIRC. (Check his latest plog. Not sure if he's pushin' or pullin'.)

If you're talking about the pro reflector then it should be fine in such a configuration I'd say.

I wouldn't put a plastic fan above the bulb. I ran my bulb (575w) for a while with a desk fan blowing on it. About 1 inch below the bulb was about 70º C (158º F). About 1 inch above the bulb was about 170º C (338º F). I wouldn't want to let a plastic fan get up that high.

If in doubt; stick a fan in the oven at 350º and see what happens...
