This is cool. I, fortunately, have not had an accident with a table saw. I have with a skill saw. Luckily I still have all ten digits. But this should be standard!

This was actually just featured on Kevin Kelly's 'Cool Tools' site:

Sawstop review

I've known about the SawStop model for a long time, but I didn't realize that it destroys the sawblade 50% of the time it detects flesh. Obviously, a sawblade replacement is VERY CHEAP when compared with a finger (or more), but I can understand the reviewer's reluctance to throw a hot dog at the blade to see it work for himself.

That blog is actually pretty cool - it's very driven by reader submissions, and I almost submitted Lumenlab the other day, but wanted to have more headway on my PJ.

Also, its 'Tools' designation is a pretty broad one, this is from the Cool Tools 'Life on Earth' category:

The Big Here Quiz

And this one, in the 'Autonomous Motion' category:

Powerisers

Ain't the internet fun?

I think I saw that on this old house or the new yankee workshop or something. Very very cool stuff.. wish they made something similar for jigsaws, but I'd settle for a flippin' on button - every jigsaw I've used is always on when you plug it in.
