My name is Mike and I am an Alcoholic... right now thats out the way

err.. Well it's been a while since I joined back in 2004, so I think it's about time to make a start!

The parts I will be using:

HQI-TS 400W FC2s (exclusiv-online)
Coil ballast (exclusiv-online)
reflector (exclusiv-online)
IR/UV glass filter (exclusiv-online)
Standard S15 lens kit
BenQ fp567s v2
2*120mm fans

So far I have cut all the panels for the box and the LCD has partially been stripped. I intend to do an AG strip using the rag soak method which seems to work well on this screen. Progress has been very slow partly due to that I'm getting married very soon and have had soo many things to do in preperation, and also that I'm lazy. I'm sure once I'm married though I'll have much more time without the constant nagging of things I should be doing, or am I kidding myself?

The design, straight horizontal shooter. Cooling is achieved by two fans drawing hot air out of the back, cool air will be sucked in from a slot underneath. I decided on this for two reasons:

1. The fans will be working with the natural flow of hot air rising drawing the cooler air from below, this is probably an insignificant factor but hey.

2. Any light leaking from the slot will shine on to the carpet which is dark compared to the white ceilings I have.

My aim is for a screen of between 70 and 80" diagonal at 4:3, space is limited at the mo. I'm planning to add loads of other electronics to the design later on as I work in embedded design engineering. Things like motorized focusing, fan speed controlling via PWM's and temp sensors, html ethernet control would be cool, I just so happen to be working on TCP/IP stacks and wireless drivers at work at the mo. I'm fairly lucky to have access to lots of high spec gear such as 10gig scopes and new technologies like OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) displays and other flashey things.

I have a dedicated media server in a cupboard which I'll use to drive the projector. This server doesn't currently have a monitor attatched as it's used to serve the terabyte+ of divx films and tv eps I have to the modified xbox's with xbmc. Yeah I like entertainment and gizmos.

So here's the design:
