I was just wondering how long of a focal length has everone pulled off. I saw 14" as a pretty standard length. My "ideal" focal length would be about 17.1". How far off is that from doable. My problem is that the only place I can put my projector is in a small back bedroom. I can only project from 10 feet away, but i'd like to cover the back wall if possible (7ft wide). I did the math on the calculator and it said 17.1 inches. That's like 434mm. Seems pretty far to me... I can live with a smaller screen. I was just wondering what other people have done...

That's what the new lens is all about. 450-500mm zoom baby.

How much will the new lense cost? And when will it be available.

The new lens is a huge varifocal triplet that will cost $200. Availabilty is uncertain, within a few weeks.

What is the max focal length that the normal triplet can be set to? I'd like to get an idea what my possibilities are before I begin building...

The normal triplet is a fixed focal length 320mm lens.

Isn't the focal length more like 350mm when it's made. I thought that the pdf file was saying thatit's 320 to the fresnel but it's more like 350 to the lcd. If I were using the calculator would I use the number 320 or 350... (in inches)

No your projection lens should be focused from LCD not field lens.

Ok this is a complicated matter...the closer the screen, the farther out the pj lens moves.
