Ok I know I have another idea,,

we have ignored how the poor old bedraggaled screen has had to put up with us and what we throw at her,

wether we use a high tech one or a stolen neighbours sheet hastily ripped off their clothes line,, leaving them wondering,, "who would do such a thing"
but little do they know that their neighbour is a mad, insane DIYer from hell.... and will stop at nothing to get that extra bit of lunacy oops lumen from their beastie

ok pic number one,,,,

no comments at first, study it and look how the edge of your screen sees the world,,, and what it has to put up with,,,, I will follow with full explainantion, as we go

This shot was taken from very right hand edge of screen facing PJ of course with 12x zoom
Now my trip pod was about 6 inches lower than the vertical centre of screen, so edge of arc from lamp appears a little high,,,,

take a good look at all the shapes and see how bad the whole optics model truly is,, and how the outer envelope is being pushed, and as to why all the side screen losses and abberations are happening,

Oh sorry DAZ this is what I was talking about with you on phone..
its very hard to get good shots compared to how your eye sees it

And

OH another PS

Look how blue light is,,, the other furphy about CRI and Colour temperatures, and how none of those really matter,, """So to speak"""

Just a note that nearly the entire arc is visible from all screen positions. Only a slight bit of the tip is being clipped viewed from the extreme top of the screen.

Yes.

edit:
When viewed in real life the arc image is much more defined than in these pics, the camera is over exposing

I expect the corner shot to look distorted. The lcd pixels will not be a smooth grid. This part of the lens has the most distortion. Most people will be pushing their lens right to the edge. A lot of the arc will also be hacked of in a () shaped double crescent leaning over.

I shot another more complete set smile.gif and posted them in my plog.

Edit:
And although it’s hard to see in the pics, there doesn’t appear to be a great deal on distortion.

Nice work in your plog. I read it when the page 1 was new. I'm glad you gave me a link to wander through it again (im on page 9 now).

The corner distortion is very low. I knew you would have a great setup. It was still better than I expected with the pro lens. The 600mm fresnel seems to be well suited to it. There is a bit of a wave in the pixel array. The glowy arc area is also a bit bent. Its very good for a DIY corner. Probably better than 98% of DIY.

I'm using an industrial lens which I think can handle 19" wide. I just bought the acer 19" 1440x900ws. A 15" was easy for this lens. I hope I didnt waste a lot of money on the new screen. I have to order new fresnels too. I will take corner shots when I get it all back together.
