Hello... I saw this temperature gun at hobbytown usa today and was wondering what everyone thought. Kinda expensive at $100 but its better than a meat thermonitor scratching your lcd.... wink.gif

You would have to cut a hole in the side of your box to measure the temp though dry.gif Unless you flopped the lid open and then measured it quickly but that would probably be inaccurate since the outside of box temp would mix with both the temp between the LCD and fresnel along with the lamp compartment.

Then again I haven't tried one so I'm speaking from no experience huh.gif
pjgibbs
check this out its cheaper could be mounted in a hole in the top of the box or set in the air intake slot.

I use one of these today though I'm yet to get my pj up and running. It works really good - all you do is aim it at the air vent above the panel and you get your temprature reading. In my initial test( though I still don't have a working panel yet) I get a max of 94 degrees btwn the two lenses after a 20 minute run - I haven't put alluminum air duct to channel air-flow to the Panel area. Besides the price, I like it because it's the quickest way to get instant temp reading anytime you want - just aim n shoot.

Isnt it possible to get an incorrect reading by just shooting it through the vent though?

Since my box is still not finalised, I took the reading both through the air vent and just sliding the pj's top cover just a little bit and got the same reading. What I have done is shoot through ther vent and hold the trigger until it settles on the correct temp in that area. Of course the different compartments have different temps - the front side of the box(after the lenses) is constantly at 81 deg, behind the lanses = 95 deg, behind the tampared glass = 110 -126 deg and if I shoot it right on the lamp itself, I get 379 - 425 deg.
Again my readings are from the testing stage - I don't know what they'll be once I close the box and have aluminum flashing vent.
Thanks.
